Saw this on Youtube, it's 11 minutes long, but it was educational.

YouTube - Delta P

Talks about accidents involving Delta P. (no, not the computer) but the pressure equalization between two bodies of water.

Applies mostly to commercial divers, but I can see how it applies to recreational divers as well.

Jason:

Nice video, being a little slow sometimes, I am racking my brain right now, how does this apply to rec. diving? Would you give me an example or two?? I can think of at least one post on here several months ago where a rec. entered the water to do a favor of clearing a drain and there was much talk about it, this must have been what the fuss was about. Made it easier to understand seeing the video.

Thanks

Hi there,

I would have to say cleaning pools or diving in bodies of water where there is a water intake. I recall an incident...it's somewhere on here about this diver who got sucked into a pipe and ended up inside the holding pool of the company. I forgot where this was...but he/she travelled a great distance in pitch black water.

It really isn't an apples to apples comparison of what is being described here and obviously not all dive sites have this kind of danger...but you just never know.
