There are some spots along Long Point and Wood End on the tip of Cape Cod that have a very steep drop off like that, and go as deep as 130' or so, but I don't have any idea if they're accessable, safe, or worth diving.

At dead high tide, I've definitely passed the 80' mark at Cathedral. After that, it does plateau for quite a while so I have no idea what happens after that.

I have come fairly close to that at Folly before, too.

LOL, I hear the Marianas trench is a good shore dive ;)
You may have a lot of gas in your 130s, but I don't think you'll be getting that far ;)

Actually i was thinking more along the lines of Folly starts getting deeper when you get around the corner of the cove. I imagine it's not -that- unreasonable to get some more depth by swimming out farther.

Of course it's probably all sand; so what's the point?

Unless you want to shore dive off the breakwater in the harbor and swim your way to the poling ;)

Actually, one can get out to around 50-55 ft at Old Garden Beach if you swim out a long ways. We take a 30 degree heading and just go straight out. Surprisingly, there are a lot of lobster out that way.
