And people wonder why commercial divers don't use Tri-mix. HeO2 is so much simpler and effective in so many ways.

The study below from the Navy Experimental Diving Unit indicates that Deep Stops increases incidence of DCS. I've been taught Deep Stops in my Tec Training and use Min Deco on non Tec dives on air. Should we rethink the practice of deep stops? See link below:

I'll let y'all know when I return to Truk again in January 2015 (just made the reservation for another three week stay). I'm now considering doing only one deep deco dive per day instead of the usual two with a 3 hr SIT; and the rest of time there to start basic training & cert on a JJ CCR Rebreather Course. It's interesting how different folks have very different philosophies for drawing the line between "I will do what I always do because I think it works for me" vs. "I must change something". For some, getting mild DCS just once is already crossing the line, for others it's not...
Kev, I think some might have tried to paint you as a stubborn person, but surely that ain't it, you simply disagree where the line should be drawn. So, where do you personally draw the line, what kind of personal experience, study, or other sort of evidence would it take to cause you to revisit your diving habits? Just hypothetically, what sort of facts could your opponents lay on the table to bring you on their side?

I have a Kiss MX CCR unit as well, but I might substitute the JJ Scrubber & Head unit for the Backmount version and use the Kiss in Sidemount MX/Z-system sometime in the future (gotta stay compatible with my DIR mixed teams ya know). Please tell me it'll be the UTD-"modified" JJ![]()
Sure . . . !I can't wait. Come february we get to start reading posts about how much this "expedition" cost. May I request even further itemization of your bill.
... The NEDU study and other people's personal experiences with VPM (which produces 'deep' stops even shallower than RD) both say shallower is better. ...
"...during approximately 900 trimix dives conducted over the past 18 or 19 years, I have found the most effective ascent speed
to be a variable ... run deep in the water column, walk through the mid section, crawl when shallow."
