Is on the Military History Channel. Host John Chatterton seems to use modern gear most of the time even rebreathers. But on the "Lost Tanks of D Day" He was using J valve tanks with the reserve rod. Is this the common set up in France?

The rigs they dove was right out of the sixties. Steel 72's doubles with no backplates and j valves with reserve rods. I had to do a double take just to be sure. There rubber tank boot even seemed as if it were one piece with two tank cups. The fabric straps were fasten to the tanks without any backpack at all.

John is a member on the board, allthough he doesn't check in everyday. Shoot him a PM, and he probably will post an answer when he has a chance.

No, of course.

They were diving with a local guy who probably provided his own old gears for those shallow dives.
