Any recommendations for instructors / agencies for tech diving in the UK? Any characters that really stand out in the field and why you recommend them please. Thanks.

To me agency doesnt matter, instructor is the one who's teaching you
Maybe someone will chime in about good instructors in UK

For PADI TecRec training there is a 'logged dive' alternative to having Deep Diver qualification.

If you need to ask what the logged dive requirement is, you should probably do the Deep Diver course.

Now, as a full-time tech instructor, I'd state that there's little or nothing on the average Deep Diver course that actually makes it valuable as a prerequisite of tech.

That said, any course is instructor dependant. Find a tech instructor who will teach you the Deep Diver course with a specific goal to prepare you in advance for tech training.

Thanks Andy.

I found the deep course useful as it showed that even in clear fairly warm water I got pretty naked at 130 feet. Which means I don't train with people who want to do deep air.

One name I have seen often mentioned with U.K. tech diver training is John Kendall. John Kendall - GUE Tech + Cave Instructor

He's a GUE instructor, and GUE is different than other agencies and isn't for everyone. So it might not work out, but you might look into it.

Like your style gettin naked at 130 :)

I thought that the padi requirements were 10 dives to 30m and 10 on enriched. Is that not the case?

padi also says 60 dives is enough for someone to be a divemaster, so do you think only meeting the minimum requirements is a good idea?

your profile says you are from the uk. have you visited a local bsac chapter and/or talked to a few local tech divers for advice?

if you want to improve, just keep diving for now. maybe consider taking gue fundies. revisit becoming a tech diver later.
