Deep Blue dive center and dive club as of November 20 2008 are gone!!!
They closed up shop almost overnight, heard about the possibility on the 15th and the 20th closed, no sale just closed up shop. The bad news is all the folks who were in the qaulification stream got the bad end of the deal.
does anyone have insight into the why? What about the certification cards they still have?

I can't speak of to why they closed, other than the tough economy. It wouldn't surprise me if a couple more close up as well. Rich is a stand up guy and I bet the c-cards he has in the process now, he will mail to the students.

If the shop is PADI - no problem. Call PADI or go to another PADI shop to get it replaced.

We did this for a lot of customers when a PADI shop closed in Austin.

But, if the shop closed and the card hasn't been submitted yet? You'll need the necessary documentation to support your request - training docs, signed dives by the instructor, etc. Don't forget the instructors should still be findable too.

If you're still in training progress? Well, that's getting real iffy.

Good luck to those impacted by this. Hard times are hitting a lot lately.

Is it known that someone has lost out on a cert card because they closed?
Maybe they stopped certifying and/or are taking care of the individual divers as needed.
