Do keep in mind that many divers are actively advancing their diving, and we have not been able to update profiles here in many months. I Know I've done nearly 40 dives and been in 2 classes since we had profile updates available.

He also posted earlier that his instructor is teaching him to shoot a bag by un-spooling the line first and then let the bag go. I am smelling troll!

I take a few turns off my spool before shooting as well. What's the harm in that? It allows the spool to sit in place as the bag goes and gives me a moment to get my hand off of it!

His plan was to unspool all the line he would need for the bag to reach the surface before shooting the bag. If this guy was certified to dive rich mixes of Nitrox, he wouldn't be asking these questions.

Well, I actually met SmileMon (sorta) at a dive site. I can't say what he is certified to do. But I will say it doesn't sound like he is getting very good instruction. I offered to find him some quality instruction but he wanted to stay close to home.

I feel great after dives just by ascending slowly and doing safety stops or just hanging out it shallow water. Air might not be the best gas for deco, but if you are within recreational limits, higher O2 concentrations just unnecessarily complicate an otherwise recreational dive.

I feel even greater after cutting my deco time in half by using 100%. :-)

If your reply is directed to me,,,,I understand that issue on the forum,,,,but simply going with what is avlb. at the this writing.

To unreel a few inches of line prior to and during bag securing is pretty normal (not feet though)...... I hope this member does secure some additional quality instruction or mentoring!!

Opps. I'm sorry, I wasn't able to follow this thread.

Yes, I am doing some advanced training at the moment, but since its an introduction to trimix and deco, it doesn't include all the training that Normoxic and Hypoxic trimix training does.

Perrone I'm thinking about 80/20 (but it doesn't have He, I guess this is how my instructor calls it so I got used to it, I'll get rid of that habit) because the lower PPO2.

jbd, We were diving 21/35 at that dive, it was cool, I didn't get narc'ed..

The Red Head, no need to bash me or my instructor, there is room in the ocean for any trick that you want, to remind you not so long ago people were diving without decompression information, getting bent and didn't know what a recompression chamber is.. Diving is 90% opinion and 10% facts, at least that's how it seems, everyone seem to say "if you do that you die" yet, too many people are still alive...
Besides, I'm exploring new possibilites, once you get certified, unless you're DIR, you are allowed to change your gear, try new (relatively safe) methods of doing things, if I were certified using the DiveRite's Trimix computer, it means I can't use the VR3 computer??

Please, nothing personal, just discussion.

My personal experience has been that I felt much better after diving when I started doing deep safety stops on deeper dives and slowing my ascent rate down to a crawl after the shallow safety stop. It went from feeling worn out after a couple of dives to feeling fresh as I had that morning.

And it's cheaper than an extra tank and regulator.:D

Seriously, give this a try. Make it a competition between you and your buddy as to who can ascend the slowest.

don't walk away from that instructor, RUN away from him/her.

an instructor who doesn't know how to name gases, how good of an instructor can he/she be?
I also would suggest that you make sure to call the gas what it is, later on you'll might make that mistake only once to ask a shop to fill your tank with gas X but you ment gas Y and go diving.
