As we surfaced at the end of the dive, the boat crew handed down the beer bottles. We each took one, descended to about safety stop depth, and drank them there. It's a little bit of a trick, but very doable.

I'm wondering how you keep the beer from flooding with sea water as the bottle empties? I'd like to see a video of that!

It simply points out that although dehydration is often mentioned as a leading factor in DCS, there is no research supporting that belief.

I seem to recall reading years ago that there was as much "solid" research to support a case for being slightly dehydrated as there was for being hydrated, when it came to DCS.

Which emphasizes how, when I say "It's all just a effing theory anyway" that I am indeed correct.

And I am pretty sure that a couple of beers in the hour following a dive won't be lethal.

I'm pretty sure you are only able so say that through exhaustive personal experience and countless hours of observation.

You use your thumb.

Practice.

I’ve never tried drinking out of glass which I imagine would be more diffficult but I’ve drank bottles of water. It’s been awhile but if I recall correctly, turn the bottle upside down, remove the cap and cover with thumb. Remove reg, squeeze the bottle and it goes down rather quickly!

  1. Cover the bottle top with your thumb.
  2. Descend.
  3. Put bottle in mouth with thumb still over the top.
  4. Slip the thumb out of the mouth.
  5. Drink.
  6. Put the thumb back in the moputh and voer the bottle top.
  7. Remove bottle from mouth.
  8. Repeat steps 1-7.

Have you been drinking?
Are you talking about the typos?

I can make typos under any conditions. If I could type, I would be 3 years younger by now.

With glass beer bottles you need to exhale slightly into the bottle and let the beer flow into your mouth. Stop blowing and the beer stops coming out. I figured this out in my parents pool many years ago.
I’ve been on two boats that have had beer for the trip back to the dock. One in he Bahamas and one in Fiji. I prefer orange slices to get the salt water taste out of your mouth and then water or decaf.
