..Most of all, if you get a chance try any system you consider buying first. They are different, and need to be right for you. Nobody else.

But make sure you try them in the water. Not at the LDS.

What really amazes the hell out of me is the vast number of people who give up 'comfort' for group think and fails to use their brain.

Yep, that's pretty much what I was thinking. ;)

In case you haven't noticed, DIR people are the minority, and so by definition aren't "group thinkers."

This thread has nothing to do with DIR or anything remotely related to that section so please don't degrade a somewhat useful and helpful topic.

I agree. You could have just let it sit, blackie. Instead, you're poking at the flames with a stick of dynamite.

Besides, my IQ is to high to use any 'DIR' techniques.

Ed

Completely uncalled for... Whether you feel that way or not. FYI, I happen to have a very high IQ. So do many other DIR divers.

Not taking sides on this issue, lots of valuable input from all but.................

I think some are over simplifying a buckle failure.

Why would a buckle breaking be so catastrophic? After reading some of this thread I put my gear (trans II) on and unclipped a buckle - it went no where. The chest strap held the shoulder strap in place and the waist strap tightened slightly but the tank and gear stayed put----uncomfortable - yes - lose the bp and tank - NO. Even with doubles tanks it would not crash to the ground you would still have one shoulder strap, the chest strap and the waist strap. Are you trying to say if one buckle broke the gear would crash to the ground? How? What aboutthe second strap? What about the chest strap? What about the waist strap?

Also this was a test out of water. Please correct me if I am wrong but does not the BP have almost no pressure on it once in the water?

Scott

Thanks for all your input.

As caveseeker7 and Arnaud suggested I will now try to get my hands on some of those BC's and test them in the water
