Close to where I live in Washington state is a dive site called Deception Pass. This area has strong currents and must be dove during the very short window of opportunity at slack tide. Here's a short video I shot recently while diving in the pass.

Good job!

I love Deception Pass. It's been a few years since my last dive there. Very nice video!

Very nice! Deception Pass is a dive I haven't done yet, and it's fun to see how much life is there. Which charter were you on?

Your macro video is really beautiful. I love somebody who does video of nudibranchs; a man after my own heart.

Thanks for the kind words.
I went out on the boat "Lu-Jac's Quest" which leaves from Skyline Marina near Anacortes. Several shops charter it.
Yes indeed... them nudi's are good subjects.. they dont often swim away too fast!

Cool Macroshots indeed! What setup are you using? And how did you get you footage so stable for the Macro's? When I do Macro's, I defenitely swing a lot more...

I have a little sony HC7 HDV camcorder in a Gates Housing. For the first dive in the video I used a WP25 Fathom wide angle port. For the 2nd dive and macro shots, I put on a Century Optics +2.5 Acromatic Diopter behind a flat port. That shortens the minimum focus distance and lets me really get in close without too much water between me and the subject, but I'm limited to macro only during the dive with that on. My rig has some ABS plastic floatation chambers I've added to the bottom to help make the rig near neutral. When shooting the small critters I'll gently rest part of my housing or rig on a rock.. and hold it very steady.. and (shhh.. hold my breath)..er.. breathe slowly... Check out my youtube page of other videos.. look at the one "Bird Rock Bugs" in that one, I used a tripod in a few shots. That works great.. but is a real pain to lug around underwater.. not for all dives.
