Hey guys,

I'm trying to find a rental for KL in late december. Do you have any suggestions for sites to use? I checked out vacation rentals and am going to call sunset cove tomorrow.

I'm looking for something that sleeps 6. If it's a small place that's fine as we can deal with being cramped. We're looking for something pet friendly and one that preferably gives access to a private dock. It was my understanding from the last time I was down there that the public ramps close at sunset.

Also, not that I think it makes a difference, but we'll be bringing a Yamaha jet boat. The last condo we rented refused to let us park the jet boat in their lot, and wouldn't let us use their dock.

Thanks

Have you tried Ocean Pointe Suites? Condos that some sleep 6 with plenty of room, also have a private marina. Not sure about rules on the jet boat. We have stayed there the last two years and will be staying again in Dec. this year.

That's actually the one that kicked us out because of the jet boat (rather refused to let us have the jet boat on their property). They wouldn't even let me keep the boat in the parking lot (using the public ramp to load and unload). We ended up leaving it parked outside across the street from the guard gate. I'm sure they were great in other regards, but their refusal to even let us trailer it in their parking lot (despite paying to do so) means I'd never go back.

I agree with starting with Tripadvisor. Not the end all be all by any stretch but a good guide on where to start. VRBO is a very good sight and another that is similar to VRBO is Flipkey.

Sorry to hear about your experience with Opointe. They have always treated us decently. Not the greatest customer service in the world but no bad experience yet. If I ahd the same thing happen they would be off my list too!

Good luck and let us know where you end up and how they rate.

Hungry Pelican has cottages off all sizes. I think they have a ramp, but I know they have a dock that they will let you tie up for free. Best yet, they are beside Mrs Macs and across the street from Divers Direct.

Thanks guys. I've been checking out VRBO. Some of them look great, but others seem sort of deceptive. They'll advertise a price, then tack on a cleaning fee equal to two nights. They'll advertise dock usage, then charge an additional 150 for it.

I'll check out Tripadvisor, and flip key, and will give a call to the hungry pelican.

As far as pet friendly goes, I think that requirement got nixed. I wasn't too enthusiastic about bringing along the dags, and we'll get a neighborhood kid to come over and feed and walk them.

Check out VRBO #356248. We stayed there during Spring Break a year and a half ago. Definitely would stay there again.
