Geez! It's less than 8 weeks till December and you have 12 SBer's on the December List? Where is everybody????:shocked2:

I'm here awaiting the rest of you guys!
New (for me) baby trunkfish in the algae after San Francisco. He was maybe 1/3 inch around and VIVID orange. Any ideas?

Maybe he put on his orange coat for Halloween? I bet he looked a little like a teeny pumkin? lol

Jijiji! Great visual, but he was too toward red to be a pumpkin. Not red enough to be a holly berry for the December crew... He was about the same color as the smb we used a few minutes later.

It's been pretty exciting. After seeing bazillions of the little reverse-domino, smooth trunkfish juveniles - in the past couple of weeks I have finally seen other colors. One, a purplish grey with dark spots, another little cowfish bright yellow with dark brown spots, then today the orange one.
I thought he was a speck of sponge in a strange place, but then he started hiding from me!

I'm smiling picturing him trying to run away and hide! I just love the way those babies 'swim', if you can really call it that! LOL Baby trunkfish are always high on my list of things to find. They just make me happy :) I love the adults too...just one of my favorites.

I've seen the bright colored baby cowfish, but only 1 orange trunk, and it was in Coz, maybe something in the water? I know exactly what you mean that he looked like a piece of sponge!

I'm getting so excited for March!!!

OK- someone help me out here...I soooooo bad with fish ID....I thought the orange/blue teeny ones were boxfish?? Is that the same as baby trunkfish?

My understanding is that trunkfish are boxfish...
He was too small to see any blue. I haven't been able to find anything that says more than trunkfish. I want to know which he is!

I meant orange or blue not blue on the orange ones( also all yellow in color)...but I still don't know which is which. Glad it wasn't a stupid question(like some of mine are). Thanks for your answer...maybe someone knows the diff.

Okay... I saw a purplish gray one a few days ago. Might that be your blue one? I hope someone will chime in with names! (and not ones like Bob, Stew, and Ernie...)
