Deca Durabolin and Diving

Commencing this week, I will be receiving a weekly injection of Deca Durabolin (yes, I know, it's an Anabolic Steroid, and NO, I am not taking it for bodybuilding purposes). The injection will be 200mg/IM, and will go - if I am reading the prescription right - for 10 weeks.

Is their any reason why I should be concerned about the use of this drug, and diving? My doctor could find no information relating to this drug and diving in his references.

Please do not guess. If you honestly don't know, that's fine. I just don't want some steroid freak to answer this thread and say he has been using 'juice' for years and diving with no side effects.

None of the responses - which, by the way, I did read prior to posting this thread - discuss the specific drug in which I have been prescribed.

I am not concerned with the mood swings, as my doctor has assured me that the dose in which I have been prescribed, will not bring about that type of side effect. I have to assume he is confident in this respect, as I am police officer attached to a tactical unit, and am faced with stressful situations on a daily bases.

So, the question remains, would any of the medical personnel who respond on this site prescribe Deca Durabolin to an individual who dives? Or would this pose a concern - other than with regards to mood.

With respect to my diving, I am a member of the USRT (Underwater Searh and Recovery Team), and we dive as per need, and for training. On one particular week of this prescription, I will be diving a four day training period.

I had a student aproach me on steroid use and diving (his was not prescribed) he was doing testosterone and deca durabolin. After much research the only thing I was able to find that would physically affect diving was increased red blood cell production and high blood pressure associated with this increase. The mental aspect of the drug may be of more danger. A hot temper in a bad situation is not a good thing.

From my experience, the only thing you need to worry about with such a low dose of deca is an increase in blood pressure. 200mg/week is the lowest level where you will see true anabolic effects. You may also retain a bit of water at that dosage level.
