JPBECK:
What Air Fills aren't cheap enough for you, 4-6 bucks too much to pay to go diving?
Maybe for air, but not or Nitrox.

All I'm saying is a deal on fills is the only reason I'd buy new steel tanks, otherwise may as well save a few bucks and buy used.

I got free air for a year at my lds. Still have to pay for nitrox though.

I when I was calling around (out of town shops) looking for a PST E7 tanks, I found a dive shop that wanted to charge extra for air fills, on a brand new steel tanks. He said the prices quoted were for the tank, valve and boot... not the air. They also wanted to do VIPs (for an extra charge) on the PST E7s even though they had factory VIP stickers and packing fills. Needless to say they had the only PST tanks in their area, and could charge whatever they wanted. I ended up ordering from Fill Express instead, and had it filled at my LDS (who doesn't do steel, and steers their customers away from them). With more people buying online now, I think some shops have to squeeze every nickle out of their customers, to make ends meet. Airfills here are $4.50 for a tank (regardless of size or PSI remaining... not bad $$).
