Would there be any interest in a big group trip for Deaf & HOH and other signers to do a trip like this?Welcome to CoCo View Resort
Or perhaps this?
Nekton Cruises > Home
Can you imagine how much fun that would be? to have everyone on the resort or cruise sign?
Thailand is a bit out of our price range, so I thought it would be a good idea to perhaps set up something in North America or the Caribbean. Would be great to have a Deaf & HOH dive travel club for divers.
I would be willing to organize something if there's enough interest.
Lets get some replies and tell me what you think.

Hi N diver, we are about 60 miles north of Toronto on a lake called Lake Simcoe, If you look at a map you will see it.Theres some diving and some wrecks here but we like to do most of our diving in Kingston, Point Traverse,St Lawrence river and Tobermory.
We also like to go down where its warm for a week or 2 in the winter and thats why we would like to have a Deaf HOH group to go with.
We are members of 2 hearing dive clubs but its hard for us to communicate and socialize with them, so thought this would be a good idea.
There are no Deaf dive clubs in North America that I am aware of ( I have not found any), there is one in Ireland but its small. Here it is http://www.tommulloy.co.uk/deafdivers/link.htm
If you are up here again soon let us know and we can show you some of the best dives in Ontario.

Well, I guess no ones interested ..

I am definitely interested although the US/Canada is far from us europeans. We are currently gauging interests from other european countries so may start up some kind of exchange trips where we get to go over at your area and vice versa. I am sure we can make considerable savings in doing so.

Ta,

Tom

Thank you Tom for showing that you are interested. You are lucky to have been able to form a group of Deaf divers in Ireland. It is so hard to do something like that here as Deaf divers are really few and all live far apart.
It would be great to organize some kind of Deaf diver travel exchange as we have some amazing diving here in Ontario.
If any of your dive club members come to Canada you can get in touch with me and my wife and I will take yous on a tour of the best Ontario diving in Kingston ,St Lawrence River and Tobermory.
It would be nice to dive with other Deaf, we are tired of not knowing what is being said on dive boats, not enjoying dive club socials, missing out so much info on training courses, etc, etc, you know what its like. Mac

Simcoe,

We'll be in Roatan at Anthony's Key Resort from May 23-30th. AKR is near CocoView, from what I've been told.

Right now, AKR is running a special if you book by 2/28- buy one, get one free on the dive packages. It's a great deal because the resort is all-inclusive anyway. I believe you can get another type of package with a group, but not sure how many people you need to make up a group.

I've been working with our former dive instructor to advertise in the NJ Deaf community with the offer to interpret for the classes. So far, no luck :( I think maybe with the economy not as many people are signing up for dive lessons. Not the cheapest sport!

Come down to AKR- we can have our own mini signing dive group.

Thanks for the invite,it sounds really good and I would go in a heartbeat but the timing is not the best for us. Being teachers this is getting towards the end of the school year and its our busiest time. (exams and marking)
We can usually get a week in Feb and another one in Oct or Nov . Spring break and christmas gets too expensive for us. we have summers off so that works too.
Keep in touch with me as to future trips and I will do the same for you.

Hi there, I am sorry that some of us are not interested. You have to understand that with this current economy, it is not possible for some people to be able to spend a huge amount of money to go on a trip. I would like to go, but it is not possible for me.
