Well here it comes.......

Have been diving for about 8 years now, about 700 + dives . I used to get some really bad head aches every now and then, but for the first time, I have vomited after a dive ( 2x this quater ).

I am confused, why after 7 years?. About the head aches, I have heard all sorts of stories, i.e.

1. CO2 build up - I breath my lungs completely empty every 10 mins ( so not an issue )
2. De-hydration - I have drunk my self silly on water , pissed like an elephant, but did not help much. ( nice and warm wet suit though ! )
3. Decend slowly feet first, and come up slow - done that, did not seem to helo.
4. I wear a hood to keep my head warm, and it does help some what, but this dive my head was nice and warm.

My gut feeling is it is my Sinus. Anything I can do without having an operation ?

Did you see a doctor ? Headache is sometimes a symptom of something else, and that thing can be either diving-related or not. Just my 2 cents (since I have BAD headaches too...)

Headache always is just a symptom, a complaint made by the patient. It is the result of a pathological condition, which as you indicate may or may not be dive-related.

Best regards.

I don't think you're quite at the operative stage just yet, Old Pippin.

One of the next steps would be to schedule an appointment with a headache specialist.

In the meantime, you might find this informative---> http://www.scuba-doc.com/headache.html

The references at the bottom of that piece are hot linked, and you may wish to read some of them as well.

Let us know what you find out.

Best regards.

I dont usually work on humans, so I'm likely not qualified to comment, but that's never stopped me before :eek:ut: . With the combination of headaches and vomiting, have you considered an ear / equalization problem? Inner ear problems are a great source of vomiting, and I would guess they would hurt like hell.......
I have never seen a case in scuba diving dogs tho......

What about smelling the air coming form the tank , it could be from the air u are breathing…..

Thanks for your views so far.

Not sure that it pinned down. Went to one doctor who reconed that I had level x sinus, and he was going to clean it up ( with surgery, remove my tonsils and give me a face lift and bum tuck as well (kidding about teh face lift and bum tuck but he was keen on business and I never whet back. True, I do get stuffy nose , some times a little blocked, but I have found if I sleep with my ehad on the other side, the other nostril will be blocked. If it was a permanent sinus, it would be blocked permanently right ?

I figured the slime shifts around to the lowest point.

Saw another doctor, who was trained in Germany, and he did nostril constriction tests, adn concluded things were normal, maybe a slight sinus blockage ( from living in Bangkok pollution )

Thanks Dr. Vikingo for your kind advice, but it does not help to pin point the issue.

Teh air did have a slight smell to it, maybe thats it ? But then I went diving with Bruce who has " the cleanest air in thailand" and had slight head ache symptoms too. So it cant be the air.
Will check the URL lsted below

Thanks.

any more comment / help - well welcomed.

Salt Water Aspiration...........

Symptoms

"You ache all over, are so tired you can hardly hold your head up and you have a low grade fever, nausea, headache or shivering"

Well, I have :-

-tired - I can feel I have no power at all when swimming back to the boat. I know then that I will throw up.

-hardly hold your head up and you have a low grade fever, nausea, headache or

-shivering - yes got that some times

Thanks, this could be it. I do take out my reg some times. I do keep my mouth very loose on the mouth piece, between which the water kinda can slip in.

Will try this out.

Thanks ( hope it works )
