Happy to stay OW, aspiring to continue having fun, safe dives, and be the one who decides when it is time to stop diving.

Just finished divemaster. Next step dsd leader and then doing that for a while. Will be doing wreck Specialty on my upcoming trip :).

Bon Weekend Divers!

King's Day is coming up soon here in Curacao - anyone coming down for it? Super Orange day hahha

This is typically our slow season here in Curacao, but that's simply due to volume of travelers. The diving is great this time of year too - who has been here between late April to early June?

Shockingly, the water has already warmed up to 28C/82F. It's looking to be a hot summer, which isn't the best for our corals. Remember coral bleaching happens when the water gets too warm - but corals can recover from bleaching events if it doesn't stay too warm for too long. An already stressed coral is more susceptible to other diseases and damage. So what can you do to help protect the reef when you visit?
  • Use only reef friendly sunscreens - and encourage others to do the same! Stream2Sea is my favorite
  • Practice your trim and buoyancy to keep your fins and gear off the reef
  • Take only photos and leave only bubbles
  • Keep track of your trash and dispose of it properly, especially on the beaches and boats!
What other tips do you have to protect the coral reefs?

Water is indeed warm! And hopefully no one in west punt at the moment with the flooding yesterday. Im staying central and there everything is ok thankfully.

Curaçao is for all the other stuff lovely as ever. Now 4 beautiful dives in and some more to come. Sadly no superior due to an unforeseen boat at the dock 😞
