Today we show up at the lake at 0800. We mill around for a while then the instructors and give us a briefing and final scenario.
There was a home invasion. 3 suspects kidnap the homes three occupants and remove them to a boat. Witnesses watch as the kidnapers shoot the male and throw him overboard. Then the woman is beat with a pipe and is also thrown overboard. Last the child is thrown overboard. All three have submerged.
Shortly after the incident the weapons are thrown into the lake. A short time later the three suspects are taken into custody but lawyered up. Luck played some as we had several witnesses to the entire incident.
Rick Inman showed up to watch for a while and got roped into helping a little. I hope he got some good pics.
The bummer was two other divers, a tender and I were removed from the drill. THAT FLIPPEN SUCKS! We cant play for the first 15-20 minutes.
I watch as the people from 6 different dive teams and 3 states come together like a watch that is working but needs some cleaning and oiling. They are doing good. We only met 2 days ago and each has their own policy and ways of doing things, but they are flowing together and getting a job done.
I was impressed. It wasnt a smooth flowing trouble free operation but it came together. Could our team have done it faster? Sure we could but we train and work together on a daily basis and each one knows what the other is going to do.
You put the 21 of us together for a couple of weeks and it would be an impressive team.
There was a wide variety of experience, ages and both male and female. Some have been diving fore a lot of years while others just got out of OW training. But no matter what they knew or didnt know they still came together and were a team player.
Im mighty proud of that crew and the instructors could not have done a better job.
We secured the diving operation, went to lunch then back into the classroom. A little debriefing, then the test, correcting it and getting the certificates. Last was securing the training gear for shipment back to Colorado and a class photo.
Three years to the next recert but I may not be there for that one. It getting closer to the time the younger generation will take over.
