Years ago I bought this D-A Dive Bright 500 light for $5 at good will and have kept it as a display item amongst my dive treasures. When I was a lad, this was the light I always wanted but could never afford.

I was looking at it the other day and kicking around what it would require to make it a sea worthy LED light. I am thinking a bulb and reflector from a modern light with rechargeable battery would work.

But the first challenge is to replace the threaded plug in for the charging port in the back of the light. Does anyone know where I can either get one or, more realistically, get the specs for one? Also if anyone has any leads on where to get a new o-ring, the one that it has is probably 40 years old.

Just measure up the oring, I can look at my chart and give you the dash#
I am sure it's a common standard oring

It is a standard O-ring. I bought a few from McMaster-Carr.

I just purchased a replacement 12 volt LED bulb that threads into the original socket.

The original 10 D size batteries would power a 12 volt bulb.

I used D to AA battery adapters and used 10 AA Energyser Ultimate lithium batteries.

I am not actually planing on taking mine diving, but I wanted to be functional. It is a very bright LED light.

Mine doesn't have that opening on the rear.
