I did this on my liveaboard trip last year. Genesis has a good point in that all the profiles of the divers were basically the same on our boat. The questionairres would have all been filled out the same also.
They give you a little beeper sized computer at the beginning of the trip that you attach to your BC, and then at the end of each day you fill out the questions. At the end of the week, the computers are collected and sent to DAN, and you fill out another set of questions about flying and the next 48? hours after your last dive. Fax, or email it all to them and they match everything up with your computer profile.
Again, I have no idea how extensive the study is, but they are getting a lot of warm, saltwater dives off the Nekton boats. I do hope that they decide to diversify.
What really is the ratio of warm to cold water dives in a year in North America? Is it so disproportionate that its not worth the effort to widen the study?
I do remember one of the questions on the sheet...Something to do with exertion after the dive. Lets see...I climbed the ladder, sat down and doffed my gear, unhooked my regulator, and then went upstairs to eat. Lather, rinse and repeat 5 times a day. I marked my exertion as NADA for the entire cruise. Gotta like those liveaboards.
