Damaged lens on Canon WP-DC 38 housing

Hi guys,

I am the owner of a Canon s95 and wp-dc 38 waterproof housing.

I have accidentally scratched the front lens of the housing and I would like to replace it. It appears quite easy to do.

I have contacted Canon in the USA and Thailand where I live and state that they do not supply replacement lenses and have suggested that I purchase a whole new housing

My questions are does anyone know of a company that supplies after market lenses or a manufacturer who make one.

Will it be noticeable.

Take it out and then to the lens polishing people.

The scratch is noticeable and deep enough to feel however it does not appear to effect to pictures.

I am pretty sure that it won't be able to be polished out but that is a good idea.

I will look around however I do live in Thailand and may struggle to find one.

It isn't a lens but rather just a plain piece of glass (although it may be coated). Remove the glass and have one of your local optician guys who make eyeglasses see if he has a blank of the right diameter and thickness. Should be about $40 for such a piece of optical glass depending on how lucky you might get.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I just bought a Canon WD-DC26 casing for my SD 880is and wanted to know if anyone can recommend a case for the WD-DC26 to avoid a problem like this?
