Just back from a super rec and tech fun dive week with GF in Dahab. A lot of nonsense from the German government - complete travel ban - and the UK - essential travel only. It is absolutely fine. The biggest risk to safety is as always the taxi ride to Sharm El Sheikh through the Sinai Desert!

thoroughly recommended - dive sites free of people and lots of good deals.

yes but travel insurance is invalid... I'm supposed to be going there in 4 weeks.
Just looking at other options around Sharm.

have you actually checked with the insurer? there are Brits diving in Dahab, they must have insurance. Mine(AXA) was fine.

fab, I'll give them a call.

Insurer says no-way.

I'll call DAN on monday and ask them. The dive shop says that they dont think the restriction will change until after the election this week. I really hoope it does. I dont want to go to Sharm!

The severed head of the chinese tourist found in a bag that the police put down as "suicide" followed by threats for any media reporting helped the Dahab safety record too....

There is no real chance of the election changing things. A rigged election to "officially" install into power the same military junta that's already been ruling for a year won't stop anything.
