It's called "Social Bookmarking". It's a way to let other people know about threads or posts that are really worthwhile.

The behind the scenes gang is messing with our heads if nothing else.

Which ones are those?

1. Social Bookmarking - There are 2 links at the bottom of each post one is to del.icio.us (delicious) "Everything posted to del.icio.us is publicly viewable by default, although a user can mark specific bookmarks as private, and imported bookmarks are private by default." Users can sign up for a del.icio.us account there, and save bookmarks of favorite, or interesting posts there.
We are also linking to "digg" which is basically the same thing.

you can sign up for free accounts at digg.com or del.icio.us and keep your bookmarked favorites there (like you would on your own computer) and allow your friends to access your bookmarks to your favorites stored on one of those sites.

Everything is accessible to Guests apart from Site Support, staff forums, Solo Divers, Surface Interval etc.

Those are opt-in or restricted, thus not usable for Guests.
