This is just one chip to fall the tree. If this goes thru then states and other jursdictions will look to this as a precedent to make their rules.

If someone wants to hurt you they don't have to have a switchblade, these laws are totally unnecessary.

The link didn't work for me. I have a small collection of tools... er, knives... that I'd never part with. They served me well when I hunted pig and no one is taking them away from me! Folks who live in the big cities just don't understand the fact that knives (and yes, guns as well) have vey legitimate purposes.

Looked like a cheap advertisement to me. I've used a knife for a lot of things in my life but still haven't had need to have a spring loaded one. Maybe my day will come.

I'm not sure how you define "need". Just last night I was wading and fishing a local river. I had my hands full but needed to use my knife. Being out in the river, I couldn't empty my other hand. Naturally my hands were also wet making things that much more difficut. While trying to get that folding lock blade knife open, I couldn't help but think how nice it would have been to have a knife that was easier to open with one hand. I don't know if that's a "need" but it seems like a legitimate "use".

What does "need" have to do with it anyway?
