Current Weather and diving on Roatan

Headed to Coco View Aug 1. Would like to know how the weather is on Roatan. How much rain . How bad are the no see'ms at this point in time. Any dive locations that stand out that we need to request.

it is hot this time of year....very little rain...unless of course a tropical disturbance happens...sand flies do not take a vacation they are there year round....take cactus juice ....you are on the south side of the island...the constant breezes will keep them down some....but Aug the wind is calmer.....not to miss sites.....the standard Mary's Place...everyone has their faves....some of mine are Calvins Crack...Ironshore.....Valley of the Kings....and near west end Turtle Crossing is very nice.... have fun

No need to request a specific dive site, they will make sure you get to all the great dives. Valley of the Kings and Calvin's Crack along with Mary's Place are my favorites, but the big thing is that all the dives are good. Have fun!

Once you understand what the unique appeal of this 15 mile zone of reefs is, it really doesn't matter where you are diving within that area.

You will soon get past the need for differences in reef structure and underwater terrain. What you are looking for is much more interesting than that!

This unique zone is where the little critters are born and grow up, hidden in plain sight on the shallow, sun drenched walls. Every dive should offer a Seahorse, a Pipefish, Juvenile Drums and babies of all species. Dozens of varieties of tiny Crabs, an equal number of Shrimp.

Follow your DM and other visiting experts carefully- they'll show you how to locate the specific niche environments that these amazing critters inhabit.

Sonya and Libby have left the building....errr...I mean the island...they left last Saturday..I had the pleasure of diving with both of the young ladies and they were a lot of fun....so settle down openhelix but I am sure Doc Radowski will be glad to help you with any dive instruction you may need...have a great trip

Hey Cap! I'm in your neck of the woods. My office is in Houston. I've been here a couple of days, headed home tomorrow and going to Roatan on Saturday!

102 freaking degrees here today! Let me outta here!

It will likely rain most nights with the occasional thunderstorm during the day, the rains have come late this year.

Winds can be expected from the southeast averaging 15-20mph.
