Bring with you your passport, $, current stateside driver's license, and a mailing address in the CNMI and you should be set to go: it's the one-storey building behind the Supreme Court building on Beach Road. Coming from Garapan/North, make a left at the Supreme Court, and it should be the first two driveways on your left.

I suspect that you don't have your address there anymore, but that's what friends are for. Either that or use your old work address. License should be issued to you on the spot (with the usual island time wait). You can get a discount on car rentals too with the license, and sometimes I'll get a local discount on Guam. I hear that Hawaiian car rental agencies also recognize the CNMI license as "local" and may give you the local rate. Darn good investment if you ask me.

I have used my CNMI license in Hawaii to get discounts for local price. I can take you to get CNMI drivers license when you get here. You can use my address if need be. I saw in Lonely Planet guide book it gives directions on how to get a license.

marpacifica when are you comming back to Saipan?? The retirement fund needs your help!!

Still on a little rock in the Pacific

Hey Dale,

If the Retirement Fund wants to pay me to be a consultant, I'm on the next plane! I'm headed for Belize tomorrow so probably won't be in Saipan for the next few months, but am planning my big escape back as soon as I have the time and $$.

Av8rmike -- one drawback with the CNMI license (assuming you get the "old school" version: laminated, rather than the new digital photo one, which I got when the machine was still working) is that your social security # is on there. Bad for identity theft....
