There are two of the sites that I also like to use - the first one is for surfing, so you have to interpret the report a little differently:

and

http://cdip.ucsd.edu/ (or more specifically) http://cdip.ucsd.edu/?nav=recent&sub=observed&units=metric&tz=UTC&pub=public&map_stati=1

Just don't get too caught up in the using this as your only means of determining whether to dive.

Thanks Tom, these will be useful when i get around to taking surfing classes.
i'm coming from where the 10 and 15 freeways meet.. so anything that can be modirately accurate helps as it is a 2 hour drive to the beach...
