Hi, we are heading to LCBR Saturday so I just took a peek at the weather map and it looks like it could be a rough period. Anybody there now that can give a report? Are the boats going around to Bloody Bay? Thanks!

I'm not there now, but I will be at The Brac on Saturday. I too have been watching the weather. Too bad the forecast is not hot and sunny, but I don't recall ever having a dive day cancelled due to weather in Little or The Brac.

I think it mostly depends on the amount of wind and the wind direction. We were at Little Cayman in May of this year and we went to Bloody Bay Wall every day even though the weather was a little rough. What we found was that the winds created currents and we had to search for dive sites without current. Once or twice we did a drift dive which was kind of wierd for Cayman.

They also have about 8 new dive sites if you haven't been there lately. That gives them more flexibility in selecting a site based on weather.

South,
Winds do not create currents, but, depending upon direction and speed, they do determine whether or not Reef Divers will dive a particular area. Strong north winds, they dive the south side. Strong south winds (if they can safely get through the cut), they dive the north side. Light winds, they usually dive the north (park) side, since most people want to dive the famous Bloody Bay Marine Park.

The new dive sites, which are all on the north side, were placed between existing sites in order to give existing sites a bit of a break from the constant hammering by divers.

We were at lcbr last Oct and made it out to Bloody Bay every day, but I don't recall the wind coming out of the north. The forecasts as well as current conditions seem to show a lot from the north... Oh well, it is what it is ;) Better than workin!

There is never a bad day when you are on Little Cayman! Counting the days until the next trip in December.

Going there in November, does LCBR take you to the Keith Tibbits wreck or is it too far away?

@Diver Rick - LCBR offers a morning trip to the Tibbits wreck. You leave a little earlier than normal, but are back in time for lunch.

However, the crossing to Cayman Brac is weather dependent and if they don't get enough divers interested in going, the trip won't go.
