Anybody know the current conditions at Gilboa? Surface temp? 40 foot temp? 100 foot temp? Visibility? Crowded on the weekends? Anything would be great. Thanks.

I was just there yesterday for a day trip. I was about 45-50 degrees topside and still cold in the water. Our LDS has eighteen students and four instructors there this weekend. It is likely to be crowded and miserable weather this weekend.

I am SOOOO glad that I am working this weekend and getting my OT out of the way before my Dutch Springs in a few weeks.

Did you get a dive in? What were water temps?

I've never noticed a current at Gilboa -- always very still and calm. ;)
KidK9:
Surface temp?
Chilly (6-7 °C)
KidK9:
40 foot temp?
Cold (5 °C)
KidK9:
100 foot temp?
Freakin' cold! (5 °C, but feels a lot colder in my wetsuit!)
KidK9:
Visibility?
30+ ft last weekend.
KidK9:
Crowded on the weekends?
Well, when you get a couple dozen of the Wrecking Crew, but we outnumbered everyone else 3:1 or 4:1.

You're welcome!

Would you guys please turn on the quarry heater so it will be warmer on the 14th and 15th when I get there.

Thanks, Irish :D

Friday, I did two dives. I believe the water temp was in the forties. Everything seemed worse because I was doing skills dives for my normoxic trimix course. A day of swimming around with eighty cubic foot stage bottles, blindfolded reattachment of same, etc. makes things feel that way, LOL. The vis was about 30 ft. and far better than that off the deep dock.

We were at Gilboa last Thursday before the weather turned bad. We dove to 110' on the deep side and the temp was 38. On the shallow side, down to the tubes it was 42. Should be warmer in a couple of weeks.

Hey, doesn't "normoxic" mean regular air?

Just what the heck is normoxic trimix training, anyway?
