There will be a change over to US dollars in 2011

The changeover in brief:
Prior to 1 October 2010 Exchange as many guilders as possible
1 January 2011 Introduction of the US dollar
1 February 2011 Guilder ceases to be legal tender on Bonaire, Sint Eustatius & Saba

This information was copied from a post by Freddie on the Bonaire Talk Board - I assumed no rights reserved :-)

Also, if any part timer's have accounts in guilders on Bonaire at midnight 01 jan 2011 they will be converted to $ at a rate of 1.79 naf = $1.00.

All prices on Bonaire are now required to be in dollars and guilders (this began 1 august), so if you see 2 stickers on something or 2 prices, be sure to see which is which.

You will NOT be able to exchange guilders after 31 jan/1 feb at midnight.

I am sure that any change you have will be a great collector's item some day.

NOTE: Curacao and St. Maarten WILL NOT ACCEPT Antillean guilders either, they are creating a new currency called Caribbean Guilders, but will use the Antillean guilders in the mean time. I do not have any info on when the change over will be sorry.

Sounds like I need to plan a quick trip to spend all my guilders. :)

We miss you both!!! Come on down!!!! AA is having a sale right now to Curacao and if you get in on the 2:00 pm something flight, EZ air is having a sale RT Cur-Bon-Cur around $75.00 or so...(135,00 naf).
