I also second the notion to use the sledge hammer to get it open!!!
I once had to use a hack saw in my job... I wont say what I had to do... customers that have their regulators with us right now might get worried...LOL!!!

The hot water soak should do it, but watch out for that soap. The last time I got some of that stuff [soap] on me my skin turned a few shades lighter.
