Oh man, I would love to see a snake eel!

Neat photos, never made it to Neptune's throne.

Hi Morecowbells, the Snake-eel was a real surprise, we found it snorkeling out to the dive site. It is one of those critters you see in the fish id books but rarely in the wild. I was totally psyched to find one as it was a target species for the trip, this was my 500th dive as well so the Snake-eel made it extra special.

One of the great things about the shore diving in Curacao was spending time in the shallow coral rubble where you can see stuff you would miss boat diving. One example is we saw Sharp-tailed Eels almost every dive as well as an infestation of Lettuce-leaf Nudibrachs ranging in color from snow white to iridescent blue.

Glad you enjoyed the photos TLG James, Neptune is located directly off the fisherman's wharf at Playa Piscado, Westpunt, Curacao in about 30 feet of water. We were finishing up an early morning dive when we stumbled across it by accident. The sponges growing out of his head look like a lopsided crown to me. Welcome to the board, it's an honor that your first post was a reply to my photos, thanks.

You might consider posting on the Introductions thread as well, the link is below.

Congrats on 500 dives and what a beautiful place to achieve the goal. Thanks as the pics are awesome and make me want to go back to curacao already! Got back last week.

Ah yes. I got my OW and AOW cert in Curacao at the HBH. Dove most of the island. Mostly at the HBH, did Playa Kalki @ Westpunt, Cas Abao, Blue Bay, Porto Marie, and 2 boat trips to random spots. Very fun. Never saw the statue though. If I'm lucky enough, my work schedule might take me back there next spring. We'll see..

Thanks Irie1029, been to Jamaica lately?

TLG James, Blue Bay Wall was the best visibility we had, did it as a boat dive, how is it from shore?

Blue Bay is fun in either direction. That's actually the hotel I stayed at. It is about a 15 minute swim on the surface to get there. Very freaky since you can' see the ground. Actually I liked going left from Blue Bay instead of towards the wall. Did a night dive going left and like 4 dives that way, always had more life. Saw a friendly Sea Turtle once & some squid during the day. At night I saw a really cool Octopus out hunting. Recorded a video of it.
