Looks like we'll have a few days to dive Curacao on our way to Bonaire next Easter.
Since we just did Westpunt last year, we were thinking about going in the other direction for the few days we have.
Any recommendations for outfits that are close to Klein Curacao and the sites in that direction?
Are their any "must dives" either boat or shore in that direction?
We'll stay close to where ever we want to dive, so that is secondary.
It is not neccesary to recommend the dive bus at this time.
We are well aware of their existence :)
Thanks,
Kees

Kees,

Director's Bay is really the only dive site I prefer in that direction (of course that is just one diver's opinion). Car Pile is okay I suppose, and of course Producer is a must. You may want to consider staying near the Blue Bay area, sort of in the middle. Then you could do Varsenbaai, Producer, Snake Bay and Lovers, and be right in the middle to head to either Director's Bay or Westpundt. Tanks are available from dive shops at Director's, Snake Bay (which you could lug to Lovers), and of course Car Pile.

Kukuisa,

There are tanks available from the dive shop by the tug boat, okay not at "Director's Bay" but two minutes before it, and you have to drive right by.
Snake Bay, assuming you are going in at the apartments has Sublime Diving right next to it (Eric Wederfoort). Most people don't know its there, but its the house with the scuba tank for a mail box on Redaweg. They rent tanks, so no need to lug tanks to either place, although snacks is a good idea.

One of the nicest dives is at Oostpunt. It's a boat dive only and highly recommended. Operated by Dive Charter Curaçao and others.

For shore diving also nice diving at:
Janthiel Bay - preferably to go to the right (=west), if the current does allow that.
At the Powerplant - also best to go right, and if the current allows that.

Dive operators east of town:
  • Scuba Lodge & Suites at Pietermaai
  • Atlantis Diving, Dive Bus and Twin Divers at Mariepompoen.
  • Ocean Encounters at Seaquarium.
  • Scuba Do at Janthiel.
  • Curious2Dive at Caracas Bay (recently relocated there).
  • Down Town Diving was closed the last time I was there but may be reopened. Check out first.
  • Aquarius at Zeelandia (relocated last year).

Thanks for the replies so for guys.
Would you guys recommend going to Klein Curacao as well?
I see that Dive Charters Curacao goes to Oostpunt on Thursdays as a 2 tank trip, so that leaves a Friday to possibly go to Klein.
We're shore diving for a week in Bonaire immediately following this, so I'm not opposed to boat dive for both of our diving days in Curacao.
I see Atlantis does the Klein as a full day dive trip.
Are there any others that do this as well, specifically on Fridays?
As far as I'm concerned, the more bare boned the operation the better.
The diving itself is plenty of luxury for me!
Thanks again,
Kees
