Grocery store "tall-tale" not that you aked for one....

Our last day on Curacao we stopped at the grocery on the road between the Hilton/Marriott and the airport to pick up something for lunch and some snacks for the "wait on the plane" time.

The grocery always has kids who take your purchases to you car for you for tips. Since we were leaving the island and had a pocket full of guilders - we gave the kid pretty much all the local currency we had (probably $20 or so US) You have never seen such an astonished look as that kid had on his face. He tried to give most of it back but we insisted he keep it.

Definitely made his day!

You still have snow in Ithica? Boy I miss living back east.............NOT!!!!!!:cool2::cool2:

If you are to tired from the flight, and the car is to full with dive gear, and you don't want to go big grocery shopping, there are places to stop on the way to Westpunt.
On the main road as you go past the sign for Re-Max and the Daniels Restaurant, look for a Chinese laundromat/grocery store on the left. Further down the road in Tera Cora, there is California Supermarket on the left as well. The latter will have most everything you need.
Day and time of arrival will determine if they are open. It is true that the stores no longer use plastic bags and this has helped in reducing the litter on the island. Most everybody uses reusable grocery bags: bring a few with you, or buy some for souvenirs.

It is well worth any inconvenience or small expense to get rid of those plastic bags. I'll happily bring or buy some reusable ones.

We take one of these collapsible cooler bags we bought years ago at Sam's club - beats futzing with styrofoam coolers for us.

We'll take our reuseable 'reular' shopping bags with us in September 2010 when we return to Curacao

Hope you get to see a few Frogfish!!
