Hi, We are new to Scubaboard! We are looking for a holiday next January to Cuba. We would like a really nice all inclusive hotel, which also includes diving. We will be going for 7 nights. We have had excellent all inclusive holidays in the past in Jamaica. Does anyone have any recommendations please?

We stayed at Beaches Varadero, but I don't RECALL any diving there. I wasn't into it then. From what I do recall, it seemed a major place for diving was on the South Coast (Caribbean) at Cienfuegos.

Alise...I went diving to Cuba in Oct 09. I stayed at the Iberostar in Cayo Guillermo but because the local dive shop was closed our travel agent made transport arrangement for us to dive with the dive shop of the Melia hotel in Cayo Coco. I think the name of the shop is either Blue Diving or Green Moray but it is right on the beach of the Melia which is a very nice all inclusive hotel. Marin, Yvan, Jose and Tony were the DMs we dove with and we enjoyed our diving.

I stayed at the Iberostar Daiquiri on Guillermo a few years back, it was very nice and the food pretty good for Cuba. If you're looking for something more on the upscale side you might want to check out Paradisus Rio de Oro in Holguin as well- five star with diving included.

There are three places I know in Cuba. The first is Havana. Nice place to visit but no scuba diving. The second is north side of the island, called Varadero. This is a peninsula with pretty much nothing but resort hotels on it. I stayed at the Sandals Royal Hicacos resort. It is all-inclusive and does include scuba diving. I was just starting to travel so I spent most my time top side. The third place is Manzanillo, Cuba. It is on the south side of Cuba and where the dive shop I currently work at goes all the time. I haven't had a chance to go there but I have heard from the guys at the shop and they thought it was good.

We've gone to Sandals in Varadero 2 times and loved it. You get 2 dives free per day. Hubby actually learned to dive there (because the resort course was free) in Sept 2009 and then we went back last Sept 2010 so he could get his OW. Diving is okay (not great) but it's free and the resort is beautiful and couples only. Nice and quiet. Lots of Brits.
