Crystal and Platte lakes

Will be visiting with my parents who live in Honor this August and I am looking for dive shops in the area. I rented some tanks from Scuba North in TC but I am hoping there might be a place closer by.

Also I am looking to see if anyone knows any good places in either Platte Lake or Crystal Lake to check out. My father tells me there are rumors of a rail car like contraption in Platte Lake over by the mouth on the north eastern corner but I did not see anything last year except some downed logs.

If you are coming up from IN you will pass a shop, Divers Central, on your way through on 115 just north of 131 . To get to Scuba North you pass Great Lakes Scuba on 37 just north of 31&37 intersection. Great Lakes would be your closest shop. Can't tell you about much diving over there. We usually dive off Lobb Rd on Crystal Lake, a good night dive.

My folks had a place on Big Platte Lake, and I dove there a couple of times from shore. It was quite a swim to get to any depth. I never did find much of anything to see, but I'm one of those who would be happy blowing bubbles in a mud puddle.
