The article just says "forced to abandon their boat" and "started taking on water", but doesn't seem to actually indicate if it sank. The advice I've always heard as a casual sailboater is to not abandon ship until it is is truly going under ("step up into your lifeboat").

Even if you decide to get in the lifeboat before the main ship sinks, stay near it as long as possible because it's a much bigger object for rescuers to spot, and if it doesn't sink like you are afraid it might then you can still go aboard for whatever supplies are there.

Glad this situation ended well for them regardless.

I thought that it did given this: "while their boat will be a 'commercial salvage'"
