it is easy to remove if you need to, but will not fall off and lead to an uncontroled ascent.

For those of you who use crotch straps with your b/p and wing, do you wear your weight belt over or under the strap?

I wear mine under the crotch strap. I don't plan on ditching.....

I do however use an XS Scuba pouch belt. In the unlikely event I ever want to ditch, I can open one pouch at a time an drop 3-4 lbs., instead of all of it at once.

If you want to wear your belt on the outside of the crotch strap here is the drill.

Put your weight belt on first, kinda loose.

Put on your BP harness shoulder straps.

Reach back and grap the free end of the crotch strap.

Pull it around your side (either side) to the front.

Jam the end down between top edge of your weight belt, grap it below the weight belt and pull it down and around back

Reach through legs, grap Crotch Strap, pull to front, slide it up under the weight belt, and secure.

Now your weight belt is outside the harness. Snug up weight belt.

Easier than if sounds, but does do the job.

Tobin

Or don't wear a weight belt :D

Make a V channel weight in you B/P . . . Costs about 10 bucks for the lead and 2 hours out of your life. Jonnythan has a website to show you how.

Thanks for the quick replys. I currently wear it under, and I do use the XS pouch. I am pretty new to diving and my first purchase was my bp and wings. (thanks in no small part to advice from people on here). Other than 1 dive buddy, everyone I know uses traditional bc's and I just wondered how other people wore theirs. Thanks again

I used the waist strap as weight belt. I made 2 weight pockets which has the velcro (not sure if this is what they call it) and stitch a 1" nylon strap around it quick releases. I place the weight pocket upside-down. The weights stay in the pocket tightly as the pocket opening is secured with the velcro and the quick releases. If I ever need to ditch the weights, I simply release the quick releases and pull the velcro cover. The weights will drop due to gravity as the pockets are upside down.

For this reason, I don't wear an extra weight belt so I simply fix the cotch strap onto the waist strap.

Hope my explanation is comprehensive.

Under.

All the best, James

I lost a belt once during a dive - not nice. Since then I wear it under.

Under. Agree that I can't see a need to drop weight, but I use a DUI weight system, so it I can either open a pocket and drop a couple of pounds, or pull on the dump handles and loose the whole thing.
