RJP you have an impressive post count of Split Fin posts, do you run an application that tracks an existence of Split Fins in topic and posts the responses from the knowledge base ? What programming language is it written in ? Can you share the knowledge base with us ?

The app actually crawls SB looking for the charachter string "you're gonna die" and divides by 3, with the assumption being that use of that phrase is equally distributed among Split-Fin, Spare Air and Air2 threads...

I don't know -- sometimes I think some of these things are a little dependent on your individual conformation. AG can shut the right post with his left hand -- my ARM isn't long enough to do that! (Sitting at my breakfast table, I can't reach that far, and I don't think my pajamas are restrictive at all :) ) Even in warm water, getting to my isolator and a post at the same time is quite a stretch (literally and figuratively). With the bulk of a thick undergarment bunching up, I just can't quite get there.

Smart performance trick, have you ever thought about adding BP/W vs. puddle jacket into the bunch or you think the degradation in performance is not worth the hassle ?

Having been through the same tech program as RJP but a few years before I can confirm those are the exact requirements of the course. I can also vouch for the fact he did them, as I was in the water video taping while chuckling at him and his fellow students. Valve drills with cold hands can be can be a struggle. However with practice, good trim, and maybe an extra burst of air in the suit we have yet to find someone who couldn't get it done in the required time.

OK RJP you got me. Most New Jersey Divers (the ones you know too) dive manifolds. Thanks so much for pointing that out. You are also correct about the number of guys who you've seen with independent doubles, I know of three, all from South Jersey. You being on the local boats as often as you are im pretty sure that you know at least one of them. He's a very experenced DM who I have had the pleasure of diving with several times. He is one of the few guys void of arrogance and ego who is willing to talk to and buddy up with someone with little experence and training such as myself. His reasoning for isolating the doubles made sense to me, however I knew that he was in the minority, so I was simply wondering why. Most experenced guys ive been around on local boats are arrogant douche bags who seem to not want to answer my questions. The type of guy I beat up in High School, but now has something to make him feel special and better than me I guess. So that being said, I do live and dive in the same New Jersey that you do. Perhaps some day all three of us will be on the same boat together and I can moderate the debate between you and him. Some day I hope to grow up and dive doubles too. Thanks for the information, now I can make an educated decision when that time comes.

Yeah, the only thing worse than having your instructor simulate a "blown burst disk" for you while you're hovering 1' off a silty bottom shooting a bag... is hearing Sean laughing through his loop while he's capturing the whole Charlie Foxtrot on video.

That reminds me Sean, I owe you the Q1-2010 payment for keeping those videos off YouTube...
