Hello all,
I just got a Cressi Leonardo computer and went on my first dive with it. I really liked it! I have the PCLink unit to download the data to my personal computer but cannot get it to work.
I installed the latest version of Cressi's application by downloading it from their website. I see no manual for the software so I am just trying as I see it.

Steps I am working through:
1) I open the application
2) Click on download dives (see connection status non active)
3) set computer to pclink and set it on the base
4) Connection shows active and asks for me to give it a name
5) I give it a name and hit next
6) screen goes back to the main screen where I see the chart
7) nothing else happens...
8) I go back into download dives
9) Connection says active and asking me to give computer name again
10) I give it a name again and press next (by the way the dive history shows correctly on this screen)
11) goes to main screen again like it is doing something but nothing happens
12) I go into settings
13) Computer details show up (computer went off so I turned it back to PClink and reconnected) but no computer name shows
14) computer goes off again (sometimes it goes off on step 5
15) while connected I go to data folder (nothing shows up there) I click load
16) nothing happens but the screen goes back to main screen

Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem might be or what I am doing wrong here?
Thank you for your help!!!
Luciano

If you don't know but have a Leonardo can you at least tell me if these steps are correct? Just want to make sure it is an issue and now user error.
Thanks,

I sent support request to Cressi with no response
I called LeisurePro (where I bought it from) and go to a technician who could not help me. He did give me a Cressi support number
I called Cressi again and the person could not help me but gave me the number of a more technical person
I left messages and did not ever hear back
I decided to send the computer back to LeisurePro for a replacement
Disappointing...

Hey there, sorry to hear things haven't been working out with your new computer. I'm not personally a user of the computer, so I'm not much help there, but thought I'd check in to see if there's anything else we (Leisure Pro) can do on our side other than process the replacement? Feel free to email me directly at nickb@leisurepro.com if there's anything I can do.

Thanks for the response Nick. I have sent you an email and I appreciate the help you could give me there.

I will keep this thread updated as I move along so others can learn from my experience.

Hey Nick... did you ever get my email? I have not heard back from you so checking to see if you received my email.

maybe open program - then put leonardo to PC link - then click download
I know it doesn't stay on long if nothing is happening with it.
I never had this problem yet, only problem with the software - I tried to edit dive info in the software, not sure if I started typing and then hit enter instead of delete to fix a spelling error, but now every time I try to type the letter " R " the software boots me into another info box
I emailed Cressi because I could not find a phone number for tech support and no response
Great customer service ! LOL

I have gotten no info as to when my computer is coming back... I am at about 10 business days since they received the computer (see email below).

I emailed Nick (see post above) and never heard from him here or over email.

They still have my computer... they sent me a small credit for something else I returned and I emailed them asking the status on the computer and here is what I received back on 7/11/14:

I got an update today. Just got a call from Leisure Pro. They were let know by Cressi that their software does not work on Windows 8.
Leisure Pro was able to download the data from the computer on a windows 7 machine.
So, if you are looking to buy this computer and plan to download the data note that it is not compatible with Windows 8!
LeisurePro will now issue me a full refund.
Now I need to get another computer as the experience with Cressi was not good :( any other recommendations? :)

Cressi Leonardo software to download the dive data will not work with Windows 8

It doesn't completely work with Windows 7 either, at least not Pro in certain security modes. I was able to get the dives downloaded by changing the target directory.

The default directory for the dive database is under one of the "Program Files" folders, but when you're using the more advanced security model in Windows, applications can't write to that location. The Cressi app doesn't report any error, it just doesn't work.

So if you go into "Settings", and the "Interface" tab, and change the Database Path via the little folder icon, you can change the location where the dives are downloaded to somewhere under "My Documents", and the dives download fine, but after that I can't see them. The only dive database I can see is the demo one that came with the software, which is in the default location. If there's a way to re-point the software to a new folder, I can't find it.

I tried moving/copying the downloaded dive folder to the default location, but that didn't work either, the "Load" function under "Data Folders" never shows my dives, only the demo ones.

The software seems to have been written for a previous, less security-conscious version of Windows, making it pretty much useless. Pity, because it has a lot of potential.

Suggestions appreciated.

With a bit of fiddling, I was able to get it to recognize the downloaded dives, but what I did might be beyond people who are not at least a bit familiar with Windows.

If anyone wants a detailed explanation of how to get this to work, post back, and I'll put one together.

Lucia - so other than the frustrating download issues, can you give some additional feedback on how the DC performed on your dives? Was it easy to operate, - pros and cons?

I'm buying one tomorrow from a co-worker who has only dived it 4-5 times (it is mint). He is upgrading to AI and wants something expensive with lots of bells and whistles (the opposite of what I want).

Thanks,
FFN
