Here is a short horror story....the other day I was introducing students to disaster preparation and mitigation, I mentioned the possibility of an asteroid strike along the lines of a "dinosaur killer" strike; before I could get into that hypothesis a student shouted "There ain't no dinosaurs"!. I agreed that there are currently "no dinosaurs" extant and was informed that there never was any such thing....the substantiation for this claim was that the "Bible says so" and the student was told so in church........

And we wonder why the US is falling behind in the science area.....

At least give him the chance to spend the summer in a remedial English class.

I have faith that this thread will continue on for some time in the future and that the ignorant will continue to post fallacious statements without doing any research.

I can't believe this thread is still alive. I unsubscribed from it long ago. Everything that could possibly be said had already been said about 10 times. I guess the newbies just keep bringing it back huh?

SeanQ:
Does anyone want to see a tank explode?

It depends...would it be a "big bang" type of explosion, or will it take place over 6 days, with the 7th spent in a lounge chair watching the last pieces fall into place? :D

It took me longer than 6,000 years to read this thread :hanged:
And here we have the proof that the Earth is older than 6,000 years!:D

In less than one hundred years everyone here will absolutely know the truth. Some far sooner than that. Some perhaps by the end of the day. Just be patient!

.....and aren't you going to get a shock!! ;)

Actually, adherents of supernatural belief systems like Christianity and Voodoo will not "absolutely know the truth" when they die. They will not know anything at all after life ceases. During their final moments they may be preparing to Cross Over River Jordan, but the next few seconds will turn them into a convenient place for flies to deposit eggs. Everything will instantly blip out into a flat line as Bob becomes a blob of meat.
Considering the role insects and bacteria play in keeping the planet from drowning in dead meat, this provision of a bug nursery may be the most constructive act ever performed by some individuals.
