You are right, and I respect that you have tried to avoid scriptural explanations for scientific ideas, but please explain where all the 600 year old people went.

After the flood the life spans of the patriarchs, as recorded in the Bible, declined to what we would consider normal (70 ish). An intersting tid bit on the subject which graphs the decline.http://www.biblestudy.org/basicart/longpatr.html

I asked for scientific evidence that supports your hypothesis that people ever lived to be 600 years old, not biblical "evidence." That link made me laugh.

After the flood the earth was completely different than the earth before. There were widespread global differences. These would include changes in the climate, composition of the atmosphere, hydrologic cycle, geologic features, cosmic radiation reaching the earth, ozone concentration, ultra violet light, background radiation, genetics, diet, and a host of other subtle and/or profound chemical and physiological changes. These changes caused a rapid decline of the longevity of post flood humanity.

All of these things can be studied scientifically to determine their effect on lifespan. So why doesn't that webpage list any studies?

[raises hand]
"ooh ooh call on me, call on me"
[raises hand more]
"come on! call on me!"

"Aaron?" says the teacher whilst rolling her eyes

"umm...there are none?"

"You get a gold star today, Aaron."

EDIT: For clarification, "Aaron" means me, Soggy, not Moses' brother. My name was chosen because it was the first name in the baby book, darn my lazy father :)

Just a thought, to further confuse things:
we've changed calendars in the past 400 years too, so maybe the reckoning of age was by a different rubric? So Noah was "950", but does that necessarily mean "950 Solar revolutions"?

(Probably no, thinking out of my ***, but just a thought.) (I have to say, equally probable to humans on Earth aging 900 years is that they weren't born on Earth, but somewhere that their physiology could sustain those years - providing they were human at all, but that's a whole other kettle of Pandorites.....)

How did they ever make so many babies if they weren't that old in solar years? I bet they had some sore wives.

"Again? We just had a baby 30 seconds ago!"

Silly Soggy - Patriarchs reproduce by budding. :D

No. This is what you asked.

This is what I answered.

That's where they went. I don't have any scientific evidence. Sorry. I tried to answer your question. Take it as you please.

But hey, the link I provided even includes a Josephus quote. Aren't you even going to believe him? LOL

As a side note, given that he wrote about the long life of the patriarchs, I wonder why scholars assert that his references to Jesus were added by some one else. Unless a lot of his stuff is forged it doesn't seem so out of character for him does it?

you should ask the owners of the site. I just passed on the link.

When God told Noah to go into the ark with the animals God said that after 7 more days He would cause it to rain. Nowhere does it suggest that Noah only had 7 days to build the ark.

The Bible doesn't tell us how he gathered the animals but I doubt he had to take butterfly nets and go afield to hunt and capture them. The Bible doesn't say but my guess is that God would have sent the animals to Noah.

you actually believe that a long time ago, God told this guy named Noah to build an ark, and he did, and a bunch of animals trooped to him, and they got on the ark, and they all survived a flood that covered the whole earth for 40 days?

you think this is literaly true?

described exactly as it happened?

you do, don't you?
