yes, evolution is a conspiracy to get Federal grant money and dupe the world into believing we is desecended from monkeys

No, thats not what is being said at all. Are you saying that ALL scientists are completly honest in their results? or do some fudge a little to get funding?

Who cares if a few scientists are corrupt? Their findings will be corrected and will not stand the test of time if the original ones were not honest. Fortunately for evolution, that is not the case and scientists all over the world have found the theory to stand true.

By the way, this type of attack is an ad hominem.

we've been over this six times now (or so)

again:

any hoax by any scientist is doomed to be discovered because of the basic nature of science and the scientific method.

the very reason you are able to point fingers at half a dozen hoaxes is that science works, and it uncovered them.

one scientist can fudge, but when 10 scientists try to repeat the same results or verify the data, or examine the remains, or whatever, and things don't add up, red flags go up

Then please quit making statements as you did above.

huh?

it's... you know... a joke??

irony: when the intended meaning is opposite to the stated meaning

in this case, the statement means:

you don't seriously believe that evolution is a hoax carried out by scientists in order to get funding, do you?

I've enjoyed this discussion and outside of it I think the world of most of the folks who've participated, especially Mike, but it's starting to feel like being around my ten-year old when he's on a why? why? why? jag.[/COLOR]

I told you I wasn't a biologist or geneticist.

We could switch to electronics or something. I've been shoeing horses for the last year and half but with a little brushing up I could probably still do ok. LOL

Another thing, not mentioned yet, is that there is very, very strong presure to not falcify results. For the two very simple reasons:

a) You will get caught, as people will try to replicate your results and fail, and
b) When you get caught your carreer as a scientist is over

Funding is nice, but simply being emplyoed usually trumps all...

My knowledge of electronics is basically, "don't stick your finger in a light socket because it will hurt real bad" and, "don't stick a magnet on your hard drive."

H2Andy,
If it was meant as a joke, then I will take it as a joke and apologize to you. Perhaps my perception is colored by the many instances of corruption I have witnessed over the years.

No, I do not think ALL scientists fudge their work and the ones I have worked with are honest, although misguided. Just as I hope that everyone on this thread knows that not all Christians are like the ones on TV.

The facts are, anytime money is involved, things can get out of control for both sides of this thread and I think everyone can agree on that.

I don't think that and it wasn't what I was implying when I said that it would be interesting to follow the money.
