I've been trolling through the many forums gleaning as much info on equipment, procedures and safety considerations as I can. EXCELLENT resource here! Thank you.

It occurs to me that there are some key threads that I 'happened' upon and I think they would be excellent for the 'newbies' to the sport and even experienced divers new to this forum. Some of the threads are already stickies but are stickies within the topic forum -- not in the 'new diver' forum. So I was thinking a primary sticky in the new diver forum that lists links to the various stickies on all the forums or perhaps just some of the key threads like:
(not in order of priority):

1. Best signalling equipment from the searchers point of view
2. New flight Regulations about carry-on
3. Insurance for scuba gear
4. Life Insurance and Diving
5. Who's responsible for what

There are several more and obviously this list could get exhaustive. My thought is it would (hopefully) reduce the number of repetitive questions -- let's face it - it takes a while for us newbies to figure out all the different forums AND the search function.

And as a newbie, I happened upon some topics that frankly, I had not even realized were important! Might help shorten the learning curve a bit.

a definitive FAQ would be nice, problem is, the answers to the questions you just posed change from year to year. would have to be very basic... and would still lend people to asking questions here.

maybe a breif tutorial on how to use the search function is called for when people are registering?

sounds great, i spend hours just randomly reading stuff on here. the wealth of info is astounding and for us newbies a bit overwhelming. i guess just wading into the thick of it will do for me right now though :-)
