Switching the octo to the left might solve one problem.
But indeed hubby might be better off with a (much) bigger tank.

That would be an answer, but when we are diving we are at the mercy of what tanks the boats provide us....ya know, my hubby's air consumption used to be decent, but when he started doing U/W photography he started being an air hog. Have any of y'all noticed that?

So now you made it easy.:D

Take away his toy and you start taking the pic's.:rofl3:

The problem is not the reg. It's the hose.

Get a 7 foot hose and solve the problem.

OMG-that would be pretty impossible--we have a saying:

Me--"well, did you enjoy the dive?"
Him-"I dunno, I haven't seen the pictures yet"
I swear the man sees the whole dive through a viewfinder. :D

 Ok so you're married to a Japanease man.:D
No problem, just mask of a portion of his mask, let him THINK he's using a camera.:rofl3:

Sounds like hubby could use a doubles set of whatever size tank you are diving.
Two options in addition to larger tank for hubby & long hose.

1- Pony bottle for hubby
2-Apex XTX50 Reg (Octo or 2nd stages also sold seperately).
"This octopus is based upon the XTX50 second stage mentioned previously
It includes left / right reversibility, cold water capability and the performance you would expect from an Apeks pnuematically balanced valve."

Why would one need to do this?

One reason would be if you are diving doubles but don't want to use a long hose. You can route your two regs on either side of your head provided they have opposing attancments.

To answer the original question, the Apeks XTX 100 has changable routing, so an Apeks technician can change the routing to either side of the reg.
