Am i the only person to be annoyed by the new marketing activity by Aggressor/Dancer of carpet bombing this forum at very regular intervals with multiple 'Captains Log' postings.

Posting 8/9 threads in 24 hours bounces all the genuine postings onto page 2.

If i want to read their Captains Log postings (which i may do) i can log on to their website.

A suggestion I've made (and would use myself) in the past.

I made a similar observation recently and the board admins managed it by keeping each boat to a single thread. So they just keep posting to the same thread. Sort of works, sort of doesn't as it keeps the threads always visible and there are a lot fo boats, but doesn't completely obliterate the rest of the messages (this is debateable). You could say it's a message and within the TOS, but examining the content, it's really more ad than genuine message. For new divers, I could see some benefit, but for more experienced divers and travelers, it's clear there isn't much beyond the brochure. The value of trip reports are the "how did you get there", "tips", unbiased observations of how it works, the weather, the diving, etc, etc. that I find is missing from these.

Agree, wish they were somewhere else. I skip them.....turnoff for me.

I do go to the providers' websites if I want to read Captain's trip reports. They never say on those sites (or this one) "Boy, this week just sucked". So I read with that context. It sort of makes me not want to choose them for our shop's next trip. In the end, I just wish they wouldn't use these threads. I get excited when I see a new thread, then bumbed when it's an advertisement.

I used to come to this forum frequently. I now come here rarely. Look at the main page today. With the exception of this thread bemoaning the Aggressor/Dancer threads... pretty much all there is here now is Aggressor/Dancer threads.

+1 on it being crass, annoying and maybe only just short of being spam. I have a low opinion of companies who spam, or even come close. Negative marketing, in my opinion.
