Question for you Cozumel Vets. Trying to ID location.

We descended about 65' and reached a max depth of 85'. Tons of Rock Formations.

We went through a few swim-throughs. Most beautiful Rock Formations I have seen in my life. Saw a large nurse shark, I'm estimating to be 7-8' to be under one of the rock formations. I know this sharks move around (using it just to describe the place). I remember going over one Rock Formation and then we dropped 15-20' to the next Rock Formation. It wasn't a wall though.

Kicking myself for not taking my GoPro for that Dive. Want to go back to it.

I remember when I first got on the boat the DM said we were going to do Caves. I got kind of nervous since I have never done that. They aren't really caves, but swim throughs.

At the end of the dive I remember the DM saying Horseshoe and Bricks. I'm pretty sure I wrote Horseshoe in my Dive Book.

So I'm confused, where was I? Combination of both?

Palancar Reef is too long to do in a single dive so they've named various parts - Bricks, Caves, Horseshoe, Gardens... If the DM said "Caves" it's probably a safe bet that at some time during your dive you were on that portion of the reef with that name. You could also have started earlier and/or finished further down the reef.

There are no caves at Caves, just some nice swim throughs and spectacular coral heads.

I don't have that level of familiarity with that complex of dive site. No doubt someone will.

When you go back, try to do all of them. You might find one that you like even better.

How is issue with your girlfriend progressing? Has she gotten medical advice? Spent time in a pool learning ear clearing procedures? Have you planned on doing an intro shore dive or dedicated dive master on the first dive day?

Thanks, will try to do them all as you say.

Our trip to Cozumel is less then 10 days away. The ENT said it was okay for her to dive. She is getting on a plane today to see her mom for mothers day, so we couldn't set anything up.

We have already booked out first dive with Tres Pelicanos and I got her a private DM to stay with her and practice ear techniques.

She is clearing her ears at work to get her ears prepared for the trip. The board has been very helpful. This is a tip she learned from you guys. She wasn't able to clear her ears with the "pinch and blow' technique before, but now one ear is starting to clear. So there is progress. She also mentioned that she will take Sudafed before her dive.

I'll keep you guys posted on our trip.
