I just thought I would share that I found a 30km GFNY Cozumel route on Rouvy.

It is crazy flat. The first third appears to be the bike lane next to the road South from town towards the AIs. Then you pass Miami Bar at the South then follow the East coast back to the North. The back half is really nice with the coast and the surf. You pass a few bars but I didnt recognize any.

I am dying to do that ride on a Norte day. I'm bringing my cycling kit sans helmet next trip.

I was buzzed by a hawk but disappointed not to see a Coati cross the road. lol....

About 12 years ago I rented a mountain bike from Sombrero Rentals (they now rent tri bikes too) and set off from Melia early enough so that I could head south on Melgar before the cruise ship passengers disembarked, then rode around the island counter-clockwise on the main road, back on the transversal, right at the big conch to the airport road, then back to Melia. I believe it was around 47 miles in total. I did some research in advance and most people were saying to take this route and beat the cruise passenger traffic.

I ended up having to stop a lot because the saddle on my rented bike was awful and hurting me before I even got to Chankanaab (even though I had padded MTB baggy shorts on). If I were to do it again, I'd bring my own saddle. I did go through a lot of water (more than usual) and stopped at the little convenience store on the transversal for some ice cold Gatorade.

It will feel like uphill on a windy day. I believe Ironman does the loop 3 times.
