Cozumel Reef Map

We (NFL.ca) put together an interactive map of the reefs around Cozumel, using GPS way points. Click on a buoy for the name and location...then you can click for a short article on the reef. In the article....click on the Google GPS button & you can view the current weather at that site (not a nearby Town)....plus a 7 day forecast.

Hope this is of benefit to those of you planning a trip to dive Cozumel.

Our fun test for the vacation package contest is still in demo mode.....and ask you to test yourself (no registration required) and ....hopefully...make a comment or two....we are seeking feedback to improve the quality of the test....it's here at Dive Contest.

I think your weather comment is a wee bit off. How could you get weather data from somewhere with no weather equipment?

Weather service.....for current and forecast weather is now available worldwide, via satellite and the GPS system....access to the data is not inexpensive. We subscribe to a U.K. based system on a monthly basis.
A member can now get weather info for their own back yard or the middle of the Pacific, with the correct way points...

Nice map but it is definately not accurate and needs corrections...... For example, Santa Rosa is not close to Tormentos and Yucab?

If anyone has GPS waypoints for any of the reefs, that they know for certain are accurate....please send them to me & I'll make the corrections.

In building the map....I had to go by whatever visual sources I could find on various websites and place the buoy markers as close as I could, within reason. I plan on my next trip to Cozumel, to GPS each site with a good shop....like Deep Blue or Blue Angel.

You've definitely got some sites in the wrong places. I just looked at 3, and they were Santa Rosa wall & shallows which you show as south of Paso Del Cedral. According to this old Government issue map they are reversed, but it doesn't have GPS info. (that assumes that I'm reading the actual co ordinates correctly, )
Santa Rosa =Lat 20.42
Paso Del Cedral = Lat 20.433

Thanks for your comment cicopo.....now you can see the dilemma in locating correct way points for Cozumel reefs....the old map you refer to does not show longitude for example. We found some listed on Wannadive, but when we tried them.....they were 'off the map', literally.

I'm going to ask one of our nfl.ca dive members in Cozumel to chart them, when they can & will update ongoing.
