Hi to ScubaBoard members from someone who has never used a message board before, so bear with me. Looking forward to Cozumel trip in late May, and would appreciate any suggestions. Especially interested in good dive operator. Four divers in our group, small boats prefered. Staying at Iberostar, and understand their dive operation is to be avoided. Would like option of added afternoon or night dives. Thanks for the help.

Hi Cheryl!
Welcome to ScubaBoard.

Check out http://www.bluextseadiving.com/ The owner Christi, is a member of this board. I'm sure she can help you.

Hi Cheryl and welcome to the board. I use Caballito del Caribe. I've been very happy with them. They are a small operation, use 6-pack boats. Their DM's let you dive instead of herding you like a group of cattle, but if you're a newbie, they are there when you need them.

Blue XT is pretty hard to beat but book early as it is a small op. If Christi is full, another good of is; http://www.papahogs.com/ It is a larger op with quite a few small, fast boats. Not the same level of service as Blue XT, but they are very professional and accomodating.

Thanks for the advice. Is anyone familiar with "Dive with Martin?" Someone in my dive group likes that he goes out to the reef at 7:30, before too many divers scare the fish away. Is it worth the early start? Also, is it rude to rent tanks from the resort shop for a warm-up shore dive if your not diving with them? Does anyone know if you can dive off the Iberostar dock?
Thanks to Natasha, Scubamate,UndrWatrDan,awap, and anyone else with advice. The quick reply was amazing! If I can figure out how to use this board, computers just might win me over!

:azvatar: Hello there Cheryl M, my name is Matt and I wanted to welcome you to the community. I think it’s the best board on the internet for divers. The people on here make it a really friendly place. It’s a great place to see what’s going on with divers. Just wanted to make you feel welcome! If you’d like to chat, please PM me.
Take care and safe diving. :japanese:

No experience needed and it feels great!

Cheryl,
I've used Dive With Martin before and they seemed reasonable and I had a good experience. Have you stayed at Iberostar before? If this is your first trip to Cozumel, see if they'll take you to Palancar Gardens and then over to Columbia shallows, if you do a drift dive be ready for some current. Have fun, the diving there is awesome!

I have never been to cozumel :( but I do like the occasional herding :) It is nice to take a break from the compass from time to time and let someone else point out all the good stuff especially if your new to the area and dont know were all the good critters are. Its excellent to have someone whos imformed show you this stuff and give you some education on it.
